MUONG THAN – JUST AS THE RELIEF CONVOY DEPARTED, THE FLOODS RETURNED

Some journeys leave behind more than heartfelt handshakes and the warm smiles of local residents. They also leave a lasting concern for the hardships that communities continue to face.

Recently, Token Vietnam Engineering & Construction Joint Stock Company (Token E&C), in coordination with the Hanoi Red Cross Society, visited Muong Than Commune in Lai Chau Province to offer encouragement and financial assistance to local residents. The area had been severely affected by prolonged heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides.

Roads were buried under soil and debris, several areas were cut off, homes were damaged, and rice fields and crops were covered in mud. The damage has made life even more difficult for local residents, many of whom were already facing challenging living conditions. Local authorities and residents are continuing their recovery efforts while weather conditions remain unpredictable.

VND 50 Million in Support from Token E&C

During the visit, representatives of Token E&C directly provided a total of VND 50 million in financial assistance to households severely affected by the floods.

Although the assistance cannot fully compensate for the losses experienced by local families, it represents Token E&C’s care, compassion and commitment to standing alongside the community during this difficult period. The Company hopes that the support will help residents gradually rebuild their lives and restore agricultural production.

Shortly after the team returned to Hanoi, they received distressing news that Muong Than had once again been hit by heavy rainfall. Floodwaters rose again, cutting off several roads and creating further challenges for recovery efforts and the daily lives of local residents.

The renewed flooding underscored that supporting communities affected by natural disasters cannot end with a single visit. It requires continued attention and the long-term cooperation of the wider community.
